Hello world!

My very first blog post and I’ll be on a plane to Europe in less than 12 hours! So much excitement in one day 🙂

I decided to keep the title of WordPress’ practice post because it perfectly describes what this blog is for and what I will be doing for the next four months.  I am not only introducing myself to the online blogging world, but I am also saying “hello”, “hola”, “bonjour”, “guten tag”, “ciao”, etc. to another continent, Europe.  I’ve never been out of the country in my 20 years of life.  Both opportunities I had got cancelled because not enough people had signed up and trust me when I say I was sorely disappointed.  In less than 24 hours this will all have changed!  I decided early on that college would be my opportunity to get out and explore this wonderful world.  Tomorrow, I will be taking my first steps on foreign soil in Amsterdam then traveling through Western Europe before arriving in Madrid for the semester.

Unfortunately, I will also be saying goodbye to my life here in the United States, which includes some pretty amazing people: my family, my best friends…you will all very much be missed!  It is also strange not to be returning to Syracuse University’s beautiful campus until 2012.

But as they say, as one door closes another door opens.  I will be staying with a host family in Madrid and I am sure I’ll meet some great people throughout the semester.  Hopefully, I will finally become bilingual too.

I guess I should go finish packing before I leave for Newark Airport in a few hours.  Next time I post I’ll be in EUROPE!

I’m at my desk in exotic Alexandria and was wondering what our 1st born was up to. Get blogging. Drove through a rain storm last night. I’ll keep you informed about the excitement going on here if you do the same. Love you a bunch, Dad
